.......and what a HAPPY THANKSGIVING it was!!!!!

i drove to Indy the night before thanksgiving....and arrived at tina's house around 10:45 indy time.....i was greeted by tina (sporting a cute new hair-cut), her boyfriend mike, and Jessie the dog....

thanksgiving itself was a FEAST. we prepared a 3 pound turkey, i made stuffing, mike made broccoli, tina made mashed potatoes, rolls, and her fabulous jello mold.

however.....a couple of problems arose

as tina prepared to make the gravy....she discovered that we needed the drippings from the turkey to add to the gravy sauce....which wouldnt be a problem, until we opened the oven and discovered that there was a hole in the bottom of the pan, and the drippings were burnt all over the bottom of the oven......sooooo tina just added more water to the gravy. then....tina's sister, michelle, noticed that it was getting unusually smokey in the kitchen. turns out the turkey was just a little crisp around the edges, and the rolls were almost completely black.

but, it was a great meal. and i would like to thank christina for inviting me. i had a great time and i love you!

now....im alone back at USI. its so lonely.....there's about 4 cars in my whole parking lot.....i have nothing to do,except work of course. today was an absolute NIGHTMARE at walmart. and tomorrow i have to go in again. it never ends. i should be at home with my friends that i miss :( but noooooooooooo walmart thinks its necessary to work me every damn day.

well....i guess i'll go to bed now. gotta wake up bright and early.

ok........so last night at work, an interesting thing happened.

2 old men came through my line, and it became apparent that they were both deaf. They were signing back and forth to each other and whatnot. and it was all good until the old man couldnt figure out the debit machine. i struggled to help him with it and tried to show him what buttons to push and stuff.

well...i guess he accidentally asked for cashback...40 dollars actually. when it went through and i went to give him his receipt and his money, he FREAKED out and started grunting and yelling at me through sign language. then his friend joined in. i had two guys signing to me frantically and looking all pissed off.

i didnt quite know what to do, and i stood there trying to tell them that they asked for cash back. then i remembered they were deaf.

so i called over a supervisor, and with my back turned to the men, i whispered that they were deaf and they didnt understand what was going on. Why did i feel the need to WHISPER this in front of deaf men? because my name is Linda and im a DUMBASS.

anyways, my supervisor ended up having to write notes back and forth to the deaf men until they understood the situation. they were cooperative overall, but not with me. as they were walking away, i got a few more disgruntled signs from both of them, and im pretty sure i saw the universal sign for "fuck you".

i also had an interesting encounter with a mexican immigrant who could barely speak english. it made me flash back to my days working midgnights this summer at the gas station, where a similar man who was 40 years my senior asked me out everytime he saw me and then came in at 3 in the morning to see me. it got really scary when he told me one night that he just moved in a house across the street and now he could "watch" me in the middle of the night. thank god that's all over now.

anyways.....things are going well here. i've finally decided to cut up my credit card. ( i cut up my other one a while ago, but i recently found this one, which i thought i left at home, while i was cleaning my desk.)
it will be difficult for me, cuz im addicted to spending money, but its for the best. (did i mention my credit card bill is up to about $900?) ya, id say its time to get rid of it.

i would also like to say that i miss emily, eva, chrissy, jules and tina very very much!! it will be awhile before i see any of you :( (except tina, who i will see on thanksgiving), so i just want to let you girls know that i love you!!

thats all for now.

the one great thing about USI.......Assessment Day. A day when freshmen are forced to take a stupid test, and everyone else gets the day off of classes. which means we've had the whole day today to do absolutely nothing. i've laid in bed all day and watched all the ABC soaps. its so great. i bet everyone is jealous. i also dont have to work today!! woohoo.

Interesting tidbits:

i finally got to see the movie ive been dying to see!!!! The Ring is the scariest movie ever made. im serious. i love horror movies and i dont get scared easily, but this movie scared the be-jesus out of me. i was on the verge of tears the entire time. i highly recommend it.

im going to see james taylor next week!!!!! ok so im a huge nerd, but i like him. and he's coming to roberts stadium. so why not go. plus i get to skip my biology class that night.

TINA!!!! it looks like we'll be spending Thanksgiving together this year. ive come to the decision its the smartest thing to do, plus i really miss you!!! i was either going to go to keith's for thanksgiving, or go to Indy at Chrisitna's. my family isnt having thanksgiving because my mom is working and my dad is having surgery, so i wasnt planning on going home. but it seems kinda shitty to drive 5 hours home to keith's and not even spend the day with my dad, and i dont really want to....so im gonna make the shorter drive and see tina!!!! plus, i have to work at 8 in the morning the next day, so i wont have to leave her house as early.

My tongue is normal once again....no worries.

RANDOM COMPLAINTS:

I am sick of working every day. i work 5 days a week, every day except tuesdays and thursdays, when i have class from 10 in the morning to 6 at night.... so basically i never have a day off of anything. its stressing me out. grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

No one wants to see The Ring with me....they're either too poor, they dont want to see it, or they'd rather save their money and go see a stupid movie like "Jackass". geez

Not only do i work all the time, i have to work holidays....meaning you wont be seeing Linda over Christmas break. oh no. i'll be working every day....AND i have to work Christmas Eve...so if i want to, i can make the 5 hour drive home on christmas morning and drive back the same night to make it back to work the next day......which i dont think is probable.......so it looks like i'll be spending a lonely month in apartment 825B here in Evansville. its ok i'll make myself my own christmas dinner

I also will be working the day after Thanksgiving.....and probably every day except Thanksgiving....so i probably wont be home then either.

I would just like to send out a big congratulations to miss emily rosinko. apparently, marriage is in the somewhat near future for her. i must admit, it came as a big suprise to me. come on emily, i thought we agreed that IM the Mary and YOU are the Rhoda. I am so much cuter than you. you cant get married before me. come on now.

its just strange to think that one of my best friends will be married in a few years.......hmmmmm. has Riley seen the Little Mermaid puppet show or any of the music videos Em???? I think its about time. let him see what he's getting himself into.

Also, I must admit that I always made fun of boys that got really into video games and thought it was such a big deal to play a football game such as, lets say for example, Madden. Well, I think i'm turning into a boy. Keith and Ben play it all the time. and i started playing a game here and there. well last night, i made a player and even started a season. (and i won, thank you)

But, it kind of scares me that im so excited about it. on the way home on the bus today, all i wanted to do was play a game in my season. what is happening to me. im a nerd. thank you boys.

Yo despiso spanisho. Yo sucko at it. Yo flunkedo a testo todayo. adios

I've had a pretty eventful day so far. After my english class, one of these weird trenchcoat-mafia-like boys that sits next to me waited for me in the hallway and asked me out this weekend. It was strange for me. It was totally unexpected. I've never been in a situation like that before. I was afraid.....what if he was hiding a large rifle in the trenchcoat?? I told him i was engaged. ahaaaa. i didnt think until afterward that i dont have a ring on my hand. oh well.

then, my sociology professor never showed up to class, which means i didnt have to listen to him telling me how to spell things. (did i mention he has a monopoly man mustache?)

i made my way to the Orr Center so i could drop my humanities class. (finally). i actually filled out the slip almost a month ago, but i never turned it in. im such a bad procrastinator. i got a letter in the mail the other day telling me i've skipped the class too many times and the professor is going to force me to withdraw. so i figured i'd do something about it today. it took like 2 seconds to do and i dont know what was keeping me from doing it a month ago.

then, on the way home, i caught the bus. i do this every tuesday and thursday. usually, its so crowded by the time i get on that i have to stand or squeeze in next to someone. but today, since i got out early, i was the ONLY freakin person on the bus. I mean the ONLY person. it was very awkward. i sat in the seat behind the driver and we rode in complete silence. then, i didnt know if i had to pull the chain for him to stop at my bus stop, or if i should just tell him where to stop or what. luckily, he stops at my bus stop no matter what because its one of the main ones. but it was a strange experience and i hope to never repeat it.

well, i've got two more classes today so i better get going. have a lovely day everyone.

I have decided that i HATE my sociology professor. Not only is he incredibly, incredibly boring, he is perhaps the stupidest man in the world. This sounds a bit harsh, but seriously, if you're gonna teach college kids, you should probably know how to SPELL. anyone who knows me should know that i have a huge problem with people who can't spell. So i have a huge problem with this guy. The other day in class, he spelled "bourgeoisie", "beorgiosi". What is THAT???? I know anyone who was in Humanities sophomore year is feeling me on that one. Miss Hurt and Mrs. Peters drilled that one into our heads. and i just cant believe that this guy who is supposed to be so educated doesn't know how to spell it. And he acts like he's sooooo smart.

I've also decided that my Ethics professor is on drugs. The other day in class, he was very giggly (and he usually is not a happy person at all). He kept making strange comments and then would bust out laughing until he was in tears. For example:

Student: "But she gave us 3 stages of fetal development in the notes, and you give us 6 in yours. That's confusing to us."
Professor: (begins to giggle) "Just imagine how the fetus feels." (explodes into laughter)
Class: (wondering out loud to each other) "Is he stoned or what?"

OR

Student: (answers a question that professor gave class)
Professor: "That was a really good answer. Wow. Especially coming from a guy wearing a cap like that." (referring to the guy's stupid baseball cap)
Class: (thinking that was very rude)
Professor: "you know what, I'm going to give you 2 extra credit points, just for wearing that cap." (starts to giggle uncontrollably)
Class: "What the hell is going on?"

I'd also like to mention that I just wrote a 6 page explanatory essay about working midnights at a gas station. I KNEW the good old Shell would come in handy for something one day. God Bless Dawn Marlett. Goodnight everyone

wow. Im really bad at this blogging thing. I completely forgot about it. well nothing too exciting has been happening around USI. Besides Julie and Pillar's visit on Friday night. that was nice. thanks for coming down girls! Being around Julie, though, made me remember how much fun we had last year living together and I miss her sooo much. In remembrance of those happier times, I'd like to present the top ten things I miss about Julie Naddy:

1) the fact that we can say "mmmmkay" to each other in the middle of an otherwise normal sentence, and we dont think it's strange at all
2) going to walmart at 3 a.m. "just because we can"
3) acting like wayne from wayne's world and pushing our hair behind our ears and saying "excellent"......once again in the middle of an otherwise normal sentence
4) driving to Kentucky in the middle of the night while bumping 80's music
5) harrasssing "bikers" in downtown Evansville
6) playing tennis in the hallway
7) walking the ball
8) vowing to stay up all night until our classes, then falling asleep at 6 a.m. and skipping them
9) Nintendo
10) the fact that i'm always laughing when im with her

mmmmmkay julie

For those of you who haven't heard, i work at wal-mart. Not a very prestigious job, i admit, but it brings in the money. and i need that. its not half bad actually. alot easier than my gas station job was. i basically ring up people all day and when i dont have anyone in my line, i stand there at the end of the counter and tell people who pass by that i can ring them up.

the only scary part is the people i work with. i believe there is ONE normal person who works at wal-mart. and that is a girl that is also in my spanish class. but i almost never work with her. no no. i work with the kings and queens of white trash in Evansville. basically everyone is 40-years old with yellow teeth and stone washed jeans. i feel a tad out of place. but perhaps with time i'll be one of the crowd.

i think i connected with a co-worker today. she's about 65, 4 foot tall and um......70 pounds. i believe her name was Madeline or something. She looks kinda like an elf. but she was nice. and she let me in on the wal-mart gossip, like apparently there's a male worker who impregnated his sister???? i dunno. i'll keep you updated on that one.

Now that i worked 9-4, i have to go back to class from 6-10. soooo. i better go. bye

So....I've decided to create a blog. Partly because I admire Emily's supreme blogging skills and partly because I always run out of room on my AOL profile when I try to talk about things. hmmmm. guess i'll write more at a future date. i have a pizza in the oven.
